The legendary Johnson-Smith Catalog. I found a hard-cover edition (from 1947) at an antique mall last weekend.
Some random page scans. Sorry about the paper browning, but that's what it looks like. Page 156 has an ad for the Flutophone, the first musical instrument I ever played. I scoff at the poor, pathetic Tonette players. "Wait in the wings", I say, "until the first-string Flutophones have had their solos"!
The Magic Nose Flute! Reference: "Lather" by Jefferson Airplane, Crown of Creation lp, 1968.
Somewhat politically incorrect page ahead; turning eggs into a big "snake" is strictly verboten for many religious groups!
